In 1979, Martin, Molly, and their daughter Holly began their karate training at the then recently opened Triangle School of Karate in Cambridge, New York, under the instruction of Sensei Stephen Douglas.
In 1982, Martin and his wife, Molly, opened a program at St. Mary’s Academy in Hoosick Falls, New York. In 1983, the Hoosick Falls Dojo, along with the Cambridge Dojo that Martin was teaching, became an affiliate of the Triangle Karate Association which was headquartered in Yorktown Heights, New York, under Shihan Louis Stanishia. Sensei Martin Davis traveled to Yorktown Heights on a monthly basis for several years bringing back information and teachings from Shihan Stanishia. Currently, Sensei Martin Davis holds the rank of 5th dan, his wife, Molly, 4th dan, and daughter Holly, 2nd dan.
Over past 26 years of his teaching, Sensei Davis has taught over 800 students, with 13 reaching various levels of black belt. The Cambridge Valley Martial Arts is instructed by Sensei Davis, Sensei Molly Davis, and Sensei Margaret V. Pine (2nd dan).
Since Shihan Stanishia’s retirement in 1995, Cambridge Valley Martial Arts has become the Honbu Dojo of the Practical System of Martial Arts Association with the former Triangle Karate Association’s logo and the support, recognition, and validation of Shihan Louis Stanishia.
One of Sensei Davis’ students, Sensei Don McCabe (4th dan), has gone on to establish a Dojo in Hoosick Falls, New York, the Pine Valley School of Karate. Sensei McCabe’s Dojo is an independently operated Dojo and participates in the Practical System of Martial Arts Association’s Shiais and ranking requirements.
